If you purchased a vehicle in a private sale, the state of Kansas allows 60 days to register the vehicle. Both parties should reserve a copy to have on record. A bill of sale functions as sales slip, providing proof by recording details regarding the sale and purchase of the vehicle in question. Even if any of those circumstances do not apply to your situation, it is still considered wise to execute this contract. Also, if the vehicle is 35 years or older and doesn’t have a title, a bill of sale can legitimately transfer ownership to the purchaser of the vehicle. The Kansas DMV bill of sale form is legally required if there is no room to record the selling price or the names and signatures of the parties involved in the transaction.
